Add a touch of mid-century charm and whimsy to your kitchen with this vintage Shafford Japan black cat cookie jar.
Handcrafted in Japan during the 1950s–1960s, this jar is made of redware pottery and finished with a glossy glaze. The figural design features a wide-eyed black cat with a cheerful yellow bow atop its head. Over time, some of the original paint has worn, revealing hints of the red underglaze, which is typical for Shafford’s hand-painted pottery and adds authentic vintage character.
The piece shows paint loss and wear consistent with age. Although it is in the style of a "cookie jar" the piece is small and could be used as a trinket box.
- Dimensions: Approximately 5” x 5”
Perfect for collectors of mid-century kitchenware, Shafford Japan ceramics, black cat decor, or Halloween collectibles, this cookie jar is as functional as it is decorative.
