Dating to approximately 1880–1900, this ornate antique letter clip features an embossed heart-shaped front filled with scrolling flourishes, radiating fan-like ornament and delicate beaded borders. Originally designed to hold letters, bills and other correspondence, the spring-loaded clip remains functional today for displaying antique postcards, photographs, notes or treasured ephemera.

The piece is constructed from lightweight pressed metal with ferrous components, a method found in documented Victorian letter clips of the period. Its magnetic construction, substantial spring mechanism and intricately stamped surfaces are characteristic of these late-19th-century decorative desk accessories.

  • Magnetic/ferrous components
  • Functional spring mechanism
  • Approximately 3.95" long
  • Unmarked maker

Condition:
Good antique condition with expected surface wear, darkening, oxidation and patina consistent with age and use. The spring mechanism remains functional. The aged surface has been left intact.
